My new ride! (You can see Lisa's '66 Stang in the background)

Spring Break 2010

Well, this Spring Break has been a different one for us. We didn't have any kids at home so Paul and I were on our own. It was strange, but nice. I did miss the fun we had with the kids, but it was nice to just worry about Paul and I for a change.

I have pictures of Cheyenne and Romeo that we are submitting for a contest for The Toledo Blade Pet Idol contest. They narrow the pets to 350 and people vote for their favorites. The pool then narrows to 40, then to 10, then the top dog is chosen. The winner gets to be the poster dog for something. I can't remember exactly what they will represent. I will let you all know when voting begins so you can vote online for one of our babies (or both : )

The second picture is of a Girls' Night Out that Cheri and I attended. It was started by some teachers at my school and was supposed to be just us. Because it was the Saturday before Easter, the responses weren't going very well. I ended up taking Cheri and Lisa took Brianne (her 21 year old). There were a couple of other young girls there, as well as Sara's mom (Sara is a Spanish teacher at the HS and a good friend of mine). It ended up being quite an entertaining evening. We started off going to Hooter's to eat, then we went to the dance studio across the street. The owner was a Vegas dancer (at the Flamingo and with Siegfried and Roy) and she is drop dead gorgeous. She taught us pole dancing and chair dancing. It was a ton of fun but I am still bruised up. It was all girls so we got a bit crazy, but it was the best GNO I have ever been to. It is wonderful when you can start doing fun things with your daughter. She is such a wonderful person and I am not only lucky to have her as a daughter, but she is an amazing friend as well.

My boys have been AWOL these days. Charlie has moved into Nana's house with Kortnie and I think he is enjoying having some peace and quiet, as well as a home of his own. He is working a lot of hours and Kortnie is job hunting up in Lincoln Park. Clint and Amanda have been working their butts off. They were home for Cheri and Lindsey's birthdays, but they won't be home again until the beginning of May.

Paul is trying to set up a trip to Denver to see his boys. Paul (PIII) is trying to get away from work and fly out to Denver to see Jon. They will be camping and I was invited, but passed. I'm getting too old for the camping in a tent thing. He can go play Tarzan and Ranger Rick with the boys and I will stay in my cozy house with the critters.

We were home for Easter this year for the first time in I don't know when. It was nice to spend time with family. Mom, Mike, Cheri, Alex, Paul, and I went to Mel and Jane's for a wonderful Easter dinner. Paul and I had to leave early because we had to catch a plane to Vegas.

Paul and I met Paul and Cindy Brady in Vegas for about 4 days. We had the time of our lives. We stayed at the Harrah's and the Brady's stayed at the Encore. I quickly found my new favorite slot machine, Sex and the City. Anyone that knows me knows I am the biggest fan of that show and the movies. I own the DVD's and I take the entire family the first day the movies come out (there is a new one coming in May!!!). Anyway, I won $350 on that slot and Paul said if I won I could get my beloved Jimmy Choo's. That was a fitting way to spend the money since Carrie, on the show, is a shoe freak. I am still waiting for them in the mail. I bought strappy sandals. I can't wait to wear them. When I get them I will post a picture.

Once Paul and Cindy Brady got there we were off! We went to watch the light show on Fremont Street, went to the Pawn Stars pawn shop, took a romantic ride on the gondola at the Venetian, I got a crepe from The Paris, we took a helicopter ride over the strip at night, and we ate enough for a month. Luckily I have started running and did every morning so I only gained 3 pounds and I have already lost it. One night we just sat in the Brady's hotel room and watched the night life on the strip. They had floor to ceiling windows with a great view. Our room had a view of the mountains...of course you could only see them during the day, but they were beautiful.

When we went to Silver and Gold, the pawn shop they film Pawn Stars, we had to wait in line to get in. Once we got in I found pearl earrings and Cindy found a Black Hills Gold ring. While we were paying for these items they started filming a show! We got to meet Chumlee and Rick (as you will see in the pictures), but we got kicked out when Cindy and I became starstruck and started watching them film. I think if we would have continued to shop, like normal customers, we would have been able to stay. Oh well, it was worth the wait in line...such fun!

Spring Break 2010 is over and life has been busy. I have a new Zumba class starting Tuesday so I have been dancing 4-6 hours a day to get ready for that. I have started running and can run about 20 minutes straight on the treadmill now. I just started a couple of weeks ago so I think I'm doing pretty well. I tried to run last year but I hurt my knee and was down for a month or so. Things are going a lot better this time around. Cheri will be home at the end of April and we are going to start running together. My goal is to do a 5K this summer. I'm pretty sure I will be ready. I still walk with Lisa and we have kicked it up by doing stairs, lunges, and sprints. The best part is I have lost about 15 pounds since the beginning of the year.

My new Zumba class will have tons of people I know...Mom, Teresa, Lisa, Erika (my student), Erika's mom Chrissy, and a few of my regulars. I better know what I am doing (That is why the hours of practice). One of my students, Christy, is training to be an instructor so she will be doing two songs with this routine to get her feet wet. I am trying to talk her into going to conference in Orlando in August. I am so excited to go. Beto (the Zumba creator) will be there and I can get certified for two more classes. I want to teach Aqua Zumba and Zumba toning. Plus, my good friend from Seattle, Melanie, will be going too. She is the one that talked me into teaching Zumba to begin with.

On a sad note, we lost our beloved bunny, Butterscotch, last weekend. I went down to the barn to feed him and he looked like he just sprawled out and went to sleep. I carried him, sobbing, back to the house and rocked him on the porch while Paul dug him a spot in my flower bed. Cheri and I are going to get a bunny statue to put there in his memory. He was an amazing bunny. I could do anything to him; I cut his nails, checked his teeth, rubbed his belly, and he never minded. Poor Lindsey was upset because she watched him when we went to Vegas. He was 10 years old and it was just his time. She took excellent care of all of my critters. I am just glad he waited for me to come home so Lindsey didn't have to deal with finding him. The day before he died he was acting like normal so I was surprised, but I guess we should be grateful he was with us for 10 years. We got him when he was a tiny baby.

It is supposed to be 70 tomorrow and 80 on Thursday! I think the Mustang top is coming down! It is cold today (Welcome to Michigan!)...I am soooooo ready for summer! All the trees are blooming; I love this time of year.

Everyone have a great spring and just think, summer is right around the corner!!!

Love Ya,
Cindy
