Winter is here!

Cheri had her cheer banquet for football season and is getting ready for competitive season now with 2 1/2 hour practices each day. We have been to all the colleges she applied to and are waiting to hear if she has been accepted. She did get an acceptance to Eastern and a scholarship from them too.

My Yearbook class went to Lansing for a conference and stopped to take a picture for the yearbook. Yearbook is much smoother this year now that I know what I am doing. It is going to be an awesome book.

We will post more pics for Christmas...Love you all

Bedford 2008 Homecoming

Homecoming was a success. There were 1300 kids in the gym! Of course I worked it being the Senior Adviser. Cheri went to Tyler's (the King) before the dance and his mom made everyone dinner (sweetheart that she is) and they went back over after the dance for a bonfire. It was a beautiful day, dance, and event. Cheri's last Homecoming...I don't even want to think about that.

Shane and Cheri are right in the middle...see them?

Big Ball Baby!!!

The Wednesday before homecoming the girls play Big Ball and it is a big deal here at Bedford. Since I am the senior advisor, I get to coach the kids. I also paint my face (I'm the only staff that does). Seniors always win no matter what happens, it's tradition. There are actually 2 games going on at the same time. The football field is split in half. Seniors have two teams, black and white; juniors have red and grey. Black plays against grey and white plays against red, then they switch at each quarter (4 - 10 minute quarters). Several girls from each team are at the goalpost playing goalies. If the seniors get the ball over the junior goalies they score, and if the juniors get it over the senior goalies they score. Somehow the seniors always win though. We had a big bonfire after the game (thanks to Paul and his team). It was a fun night and I will miss all this when Cheri is in college. I have pictures below of all the festivities. Homecoming is Saturday so check the blog Monday because I will post pictures of that too.

Football time!!!

Cheri has been busy cheering and her new boyfriend, Shane, is one of the star football players. She is having a wonderful senior year so far. The next few Saturdays will be visiting colleges. We are going to Central Michigan, Michigan State, Western Michigan, and maybe Eastern Michigan. Next week is Big Ball and Homecoming. I will add more pictures then.

Extreme Home Makeover Edition In Toledo

We have some excitement going on in Toledo these days. EHME is building a house in Toledo, just over the border. It is actually 2 miles from my Forest Valley house. My friend, Lisa, and I went there last night. Her grandmother lives on the street behind the house and we parked there and walked over to the neighbors and saw the back of the house. We were told we couldn't get in the front, so don't even bother. Lisa's sister lives a block over and hears them working all night long. A good friend of Lisa's, Dan, is on the crew that is building the house. He is in the pictures below. Behind Dan you can see all the people working on the garage (if you haven't figured it out Lisa knows most of Toledo and southeast Michigan - she is related to half of them :) The garage was nothing when we got there and almost done when we left. They said one hour on these houses is like one week on a regular building site. In the pictures is the house, the memorial pond, Dan, Lisa and I, and Lisa's Mom (Diana) and Aunt Kathy all with Dan. If you want to learn more about the house you can go to www.13ABC.com in Toledo and they have regular updates of the contruction site on the website. The Frisch family is in Florida (Disney) right now. The Dad is a Toledo fireman and they have 11 boys, 3 natural and 8 adopted. Most of the adopted boys are from Haiti. I was talking to a friend of mine at the site last night and she goes to church with the Frischs. She told me that they also have a foster daughter but they can't talk about her on the show because she isn't adopted yet and there are legal issues. They also have an adult adopted daughter that doesn't live at home anymore. It helps to know people to get the whole story. The house will be revealed on Sunday and it will be on the show in November. It was exciting to see. I'd love to be there for the "Move That Bus!" but I don't know how to get tickets for it. We have Dan checking into it but he doesn't have a clue either. I think it is an elite group that will be there for that one. Maybe we can be in the backyard for it like we were yesterday. At least we can see some of it.

Summer's Over :(

I posted some pictures from some summer adventures. My Yearbook kids and I went to a conference in Sterling Heights and got creative with the camera. Cheri's cheer team won the "Most Spirited" award at their summer camp. My Dad's side of the family had a get together in Indiana, at Kelly's, this summer. It was wonderful to see everyone. Paul and I went to Vegas to see his Dad in a slot tournament at the Flamingo. We went early and stayed with my cousin Jennifer and her husband James for a few days before the rest of the Ramirez's arrived.

Now I'm back to school. I'm teaching Yearbook again and Speech and Theater. No more English papers to grade! Cheri is in her senior year and I'm already sad. My last one will be off to college next year. I've got to quit thinking like that and enjoy this last year with her. How am I going to go to school without one of my kids there!? Clint is at Western, in Kalamazoo, all year now. Charlie comes home on his days off. Jon is in town taking some classes at UT but he is staying at his Mom's. He is planning on going back to Denver when he is done. He wants to go into the medical field. Paul is still out in New York working at his job and with his band.

I'll try and post pictures often of this final, busy year with Cheri.

The Prom is Over!!!!

Saturday was the 2008 Bedford Prom. I put it on as the junior advisor with my coworker Sarah Leach. It turned out beautiful. The food was great, the DJ was great, and the kids were great. It was all worth the work we put into it. The theme was Hollywood Red Carpet Affair. The colors were black and red and we had stars and film reels everywhere. I'm glad it is over but I'd do it again. Cheri was beautiful and had a wonderful time with her friend Nick.

Hello Everyone,

We just got back from Cancun and it was wonderful!!!! It was in the 80's every day and the 70's every night. It snowed a foot at home while we were basking in the sun (ask me if I feel bad - not!). Paul, myself, Cheri, and Christina (Cheri's friend) went this year. We stayed at the beautiful Cancun Hilton Golf and Spa. It was right on the beach and had 7 pools overlooking the ocean (with a swim up bar in the middle of one pool!). I could have moved there. Cheri chose to have her birthday dinner at Hooter's. I find it funny that we have never taken the boys there, but the girl we did. We did Senior Frog's, Margaritaville, and Isla Mejeres. The girls learned to haggle at the market and were really good at it. We practiced Spanish, received shots of Tequila before shopping (only me), met a snake charmer the girls named "Creeper", and watched one of the only 2 movies they had in English (10,000 BC). We met many interesting characters on the busses. The girls got a taste of the Spring Breakers at the restaurants and on the streets (from a safe distance for now thank God). We really didn't want to come home. I am posting some of my favorite pictures for you. Love you all...
